PR:P28700-1 - http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/PR_P28700-1
Ontology Information
PRO ID PR:P28700-1 Show OBO stanza / PAF / GPI
PRO name retinoic acid receptor RXR-alpha isoform 1 (mouse)
Synonyms
PRO-short-label: EXACT: mRXRA/iso:1
Other: EXACT: RXR-alpha1 (mouse)
Definition A retinoic acid receptor RXR-alpha (mouse) that is a translation product of some mRNA whose exon structure and start site selection renders it capable of giving rise to a protein with the amino acid sequence represented by UniProtKB:P28700-1. [PMID:1312497, PMID:8954108, PRO:KRC, UniProtKB:P28700]
Comment Note: PMID:1312497 shows sloning of cDNAs for three RXR genes, alpha, beta, and gamma. PMID:8954108 shows that RNAse protection identified the presence of the full length Rxr-alpha transcript in all tissues assayed, and a smaller transcript present in testis and at a low level in liver. RACE-PCR followed by cloning and sequencing identified the full length cDNA encoding protein isoform 1, and also two shorter cDNAs with differing 5' ends, 1 clone of Rxr-alpha-2 and 15 clones of Rxr-alpha-3. Analysis of the sequence of the alpha-2 and alpha-3 transcripts indicated that they both code for the same protein with an ATG start codon present in the sequence of exon 2.
