Definition |
A protein that belongs to the clade B of the bHLH proteins (see PMID:20219281) with a core domain composition consisting of a Myc amino-terminal region (Pfam:PF01056) regulatory domain (known as TAD domain), a helix-loop-helix DNA-binding domain (Pfam:PF00010). Some members such as c-Myc contains an addition C-terminal Myc leucine zipper domain (Pfam:PF02344). Myc proteins participate in the regulation of cell proliferation, cell differentiation, and apoptosis.
