Definition |
A calcium-activated calmodulin-binding potassium channel alpha subunit that is a translation product of the human KCNN3 gene or a 1:1 ortholog thereof. The KCNN3 gene contains two arrays of CAG trinucleotide repeats, which are highly polymorphic. The SK3 channels are thought to regulate neuronal excitability by contributing to the slow component of synaptic afterhyperpolarization.
