| Definition |
A prostanoid receptor that is a translation product of the human PTGER2 gene or a 1:1 ortholog thereof. The preferred ligand is prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). This receptor is expressed mediates various effects, including relaxation of vascular smooth muscles, nonacid secretion from epithelial cells, inhibition of mediator release from mast cells and basophils, and activation of sensory afferent nerves.
