PRO-Short-label: EXACT:KCNA4
Gene-based: RELATED:KCNA4L
Other: EXACT:HPCN2 | voltage-gated K(+) channel HuKII | voltage-gated potassium channel HBK4 | voltage-gated potassium channel HK1 | voltage-gated potassium channel subunit Kv1.4
Definition"A voltage-gated potassium channel alpha subunit that is a translation product of the human KCNA4 gene or a 1:1 ortholog thereof. The Kv1.4 channel is a fast-inactivating channel involved in neuronal after hypolarization. It can coassemble with other Kv1 subunits. It is closely related to members of the shaker-related voltage-gated potassium channel, but has a unique N-terminal domain, with two tandem inactivation domains (ID1-ID2). ID1 may work as a pore-occluding ball domain, whereas ID2 most likely acts as a docking domain that attaches ID1 to the cytoplasmic face of the channel." [PMID:12590144
