PRO name trace amine receptor
Synonyms
Other: EXACT: TAAR
RELATED: trace amine-associated receptor | trace-amine-associated receptor
Definition A rhodopsin-like G-protein coupled receptor that is related to trace amine-associated receptor 1 (TAAR1) and characterized by the sequence motif NSxxNPxx[YH]xxx[YF]xWF overlapping TM7. Trace amines are biogenic amines present in very low levels in mammalian tissues. Their physiological roles in mammals are poorly understood. Some of them are neurotransmitters in invertebrates. Ligands are currently known for only two TAARs, TAAR1 in human, rat, and mouse, and TAAR4 in rat. [PMID:11459929, PMID:15718104, PMID:16584120, PMID:17088868, PRO:WCB]
